Folks keep giving me strange looks when I tell them that we are retiring [livejournal.com profile] atara's car this weekend.

Why are you retiring it?  What's wrong with it?

Duh.  It needs new tires.

Take a tube of extra-lean ground lamb and saute it in olive oil until it's all broken up. Peel and add half a bag of left-over pearl onions. Dump in a bag of frozen sweet potato chunks, and a couple big handfuls of frozen peas. Spice it up with a bit too much hot curry paste, and then add some curry powder in case that's not enough. Let it simmer until everything is thawed, then add some chicken stock, and finally stir in a bit of flour and water to thicken the whole lot up.

I don't know how it will turn out, but it sure smells good. =9 I'll post an update later after I've had a chance to taste it.

I can't think of enough positive adjectives to describe this curry except to say that it is OMG GOOD. I was concerned that it might be too spicy, but it had a very pleasant bite to it without being uncomfortably hot.

While I am loathe to toy with a recipe that turned out this well, I am thinking that if (or, more likely, when) I make it again, I will throw in a few whole garlic cloves and saute them with the meat while it's thawing. I had some of our home-made wine with it, but in retrospect I think that it would go better with an ale.
