Folks keep giving me strange looks when I tell them that we are retiring atara's car this weekend.

Why are you retiring it?  What's wrong with it?

Duh.  It needs new tires.

You shouldn't retire a car just because it needs to be retired. All you need to do is retire it. Then you won't be as likely to consider retiring it. Once retired, you can retire the retired car to its garage, and think no more of those tired old thoughts of retiring it.

BTW, how long did you have to save up for your car's retirement? Did you use a Registered Re-tirement Savings Plan?
