Fire in the hole!

A pot on the stove boiled over and we had our first grease fire last night. Fortunately we were all standing around in the kitchen when it happened, and neither atara nor I panicked when we suddenly found ourselves facing down some 18" flames dancing on the top of our stove. Our quick actions limited the overall damage to a house full of the pungent smell of burnt grease.

In a worst-case scenario, I have an ABC rated fire extinguisher. Fortunately it was within easy reach. Unfortunately "within easy reach" does not necessarily mean that you know exactly where it is. We spent a few moments tracking it down after we'd cleaned up, and moved it out into plain sight.

I'm not sure I like the comment "our FIRST grease fire." Planning more?

(BTW, do I remember correctly that you two are gonna make it out to MFF?)

Maybe not "planning" more fires, but it never hurts to be prepared. I think it's reassuring that neither of us panicked, though it was admittedly a pretty minor fire.

Oh, and we are planning to be at MFF this year. We've got our memberships and booked our hotel room, so we'd better make it out.

hmm... I wonder what'll happen if my car ever catches fire; I's got a fire extinguisher, but it's been empty for years :X
