I bought a half-dozen of these at Half Pints some time back and was sure I'd finished the last of them a couple of weeks ago. In that context, it was a pleasant surprised to reach into the bar fridge for what I assumed would be a Rickard's and found this instead. Finding a Rickard's white or blonde would not have been a bad thing, but finding a stray Smoktober was even nicer.

Some of the malt that went into this ale is smoked, giving it a unique and pleasant flavour reminiscent of one of a stout.

Smoktober

On another note, I may be taking leave of my sanity. After taking a year break, I am seriously considering doing another year in pictures like I did in 2010. Today [livejournal.com profile] atara let slip that she's been harbouring similar thoughts.

I think we need professional help.

If I could figure out how to get some Half Pints' to you unmolested, I would. They're a really top-notch local brewery; the owner describes it as a "homebrew operation that got out of control."

Next weekend they're having the release of the winter beer, Demeter's Harvest. They describe as: "The Demeter's Harvest is a Wheatwine with local 2 row pale malt, hard malted white wheat, and many buckets of honey from our friends over at BeeMaid here on Roseberry [Street]. The beer is finished with multiple American citrus hop varieties for a strong snappy hop aroma."
