plonq: (Ack!)
<emote> /cry </emote>

My aerosol cheddar is starting to make spitting sounds when I spray it on crackers.  Can the end be near?  =(

Note: I was going to post this as-is, but somebody came in here a moment ago and dragged me out into the hall to see something of interest.

The maintenance floor in this building is the directly above ours.  Amongst the other things on this floor is a huge pool of water that serves a dual-purpose as part of the building's air-conditioning system, and a reservoir for the fire system.  Whether it is this that is spewing water, or it is coming from another source, we none-the-less have a small number of leaks in the ceiling of our office.  One of the more serious leaks was out in the hall, where one some of the ceiling tiles were saturated and threatening to fall in, and one of the light fixtures was in danger of shorting.  This morning a co-worker dragged me out into the hall to see the repair job they put into place over the weekend.

They had jury-rigged three five-gallon buckets to hang from the ceiling under the leak.

There is just enough clearance in the false ceiling so that they will be able to replace the missing tiles and nobody will be the wiser.  This raises the obvious question of what they will do once the buckets fill to capacity and start overflowing.  Or, more importantly, who will be standing underneath when their innovative fix gives way under the strain of holding up 125+ pounds of water and the lot comes crashing down?
