I won't bother putting this one behind a cut tag because there are no slow-loading pictures involved (and because I'm apparently a self-serving person who doesn't care about stuff like that anyway).

This would explain why I almost always played Chaotic Neutral characters in my D&D days.

You scored as Chaotic Neutral. A Chaotic Neutral person is someone who is self-motivated to the extreme.  Their actions may sometimes confuse others, due to their lack of moral affiliation.  They have little respect for laws, and avoid both the temptation of evil and a feeling of duty to do good.  These people can go along with either side of an argument- as long as they benefit from the result!

The curious thing is that when I took this quiz earlier today (but forgot to cut & paste the results), my top two results (NG/CN) were reversed.  Does this mean that I'm a nicer person before i drink my coffee? Mmm.... coffee... need... more...

Oops - ack!  Maybe I should cute back on the java before I turn Chaotic Evil.

Heh. Everyone misunderstands and misreads D&D alignments. Here we go:

Lawful - Laws are there to protect the populace (and yourself).
Chaotic - You believe more in personal freedom than in laws.
Good - You believe in the good of the many, to the point of willingness to make self-sacrifice to help the others.
Evil - You come first, watching out for #1, and all that that implies.

Lawful Good - Laws are there to help the people, and the more laws that are passed to do so, the better. Within the rights of the law, you will help all you see.

Lawful Neutral - Laws are necessary to keep the peace, but all in all laws should be designed to keep peace and order, not to benefit one person or another.

Lawful Evil - Laws are there to keep you in power, and to benefit you. The more laws of this kind, the better. The best rulers are often lawful evil, on an interesting note, as they know that to keep themselves in power, they must keep their people prosperous and happy.

Neutral Good - Law and Chaos are tools to assist people. If the situation demands a personal freedom to help the many, then so be it.

True Neutral - The most disconnected of the alignments, such an alignment rarely lasts for very long. Everything is relative, and nothing is absolute.

Neutral Evil - Whatever is necessary to help you get your way, that is the path.

Chaotic Good - All people deserve happiness, and freedom is the only way to achieve that. Laws have only stood to get in the way of the happiness of the many.

Chaotic Neutral - My freedom ends where yours begins. Nobody should encrouch on anyone else's freedom.

Chaotic Evil - Screw the law, yours is yours and that's what matters. And whatever action is necessary for such to remain, is the path.
