The sky put on a show for us tonight.

We'd been half watching for aurora all weekend since Space Weather had mentioned that there might be some this weekend. I had expected them on Friday, or maybe Saturday night, but

I'd rate it as better than pretty good - it was downright spectacular. While not quite as active as it's been in past, nor maybe as bright as we've seen it in past, this was the most colourful display that I've seen in a few years. It's one of the few things that makes it worth living in this northern climb.
Here it is over the neighbour's back porch. This near its peak brightness. |

Still over the neighbour's shed. Not quite as bright, but taking on a more classic aurora look. |

Looking due north over our house. |

Looking down the street. The whole sky was ablaze. |

I wish I'd had a chance to move away from the house and trees. Look at all the colours! |

Blasted trees! Ah well, at least they've lost all of their leaves. |
