This will be my last OMGWTF!11! post about the weather since it's supposed to "warm up" for the weekend. Today was scheduled to be warmer than yesterday, but we woke up to -41F with a wind making it feel like -65. We didn't even bother trying to start
atara's car today - we just moved the pass cards and extension cord over to the Plonqmobile and took my car to work.

Conditions are interesting this morning. The ice fog of yesterday is twice as thick today, limiting visibility to about 2 1/2 blocks. It's starting to settle out on the trees and buildings, coating the whole city in a hoar frost.
In case you missed it,
atara posted a couple of videos to her LJ of a video we made last night (sorry about the poor quality and lighting) where we tossed some boiling water into the air and it froze before it could hit the ground. You can't hear it in the crappy video, but it made a nice "WHUFF" sound as it literally exploded into an ice fog.

Date: 2004-01-30 05:04 pm (UTC)You should also do some Newtonian physics experiments and compare how fast a cup of near-boiling water and a cup of refrigerated water, in the same size and type of cup will freeze. :)
