Uninvited guest

plonqWhen we got home this evening we were greeted by a little uninvited guest. It was hanging on the screen of the back window, trying to find a way out.
Once we'd caught it (rather, it caught itself by jumping into a box that it couldn't jump out of) we didn't have the heart to kill it. We snapped a couple of pictures, and then I flung it way out into the alley. It bounced a couple of times, looked around and then ran off down the alley as fast as its little mouse legs could carry it.
We chastized the cats for not doing their job. They just blinked.
