Stupid brain
Dec. 11th, 2020 02:36 pmI was supposed to see my doctor yesterday, but his office called the afternoon before and rebooked it as a phone consultation. No problem - it was just a routine check so that he could renew my prescription.
I was going to go refill that today, but I know I've got a few days of pills left, and some of the roads are still pretty bad. I started looking through bottles of pills, trying to estimate how long they would last.
Brain: (Interjecting while I dither about.) "If you fill your weekly pill container, you'll know exactly when you will run out."
Me: "Oh, that's a good idea brain - for a change. Then I know what day to go next week!"
Brain: (As I grab a random bottle of pills.) "Not those ones."
Me: (Counting them out into the container.) "Huh. I don't remember any of my pills being this shape. Also, why are some of these cut in half?"
Brain: "Those are the cat's pills!"
Me: "What? Why didn't you tell me that before I started putting the in the little bins? Stupid brain!"
Brain: "I hate you too."
In other news, I made black bean brownies again. I stumbled onto the idea some time back when I was looking for a use for some black beans that were starting to get a bit old, and the idea of making brownies from them intrigued me. They were good enough that I've started making them that way fairly regularly. Can't complain about getting a bit of extra fibre with dessert.

The recipe calls for slightly more beans than what comes in the cans we buy, so I supplemented them with a bit of rolled oats. As a result, the brownies are a bit more like cake than fudge. I'm not complaining. They're slightly less rich than the ones I've made from flour, but if somebody put one of these in front of me and did not tell me they were made from beans, I'd never guess that.
