We ordered groceries from one of the chain stores up here last week for pick-up this afternoon.
To be more specific, by "groceries" I mean six tubs of their seasonal ice cream, and two packages of their seasonal ice cream bars. Since it's only available for a month or so out of the year, and sells out quickly, we typically stock up when we can get it so that we can dip into it over the rest of the year.
Since we felt a bit silly ordering nothing but ice cream (and to help offset the service charge) we added some vitamins B, C and D along with some shampoo, batteries, epoxy, etc.
When they sent me the confirmation email on our order this morning, they had cut almost everything on the order as "unavailable, and no substitute".
Everything but the ice cream and chewable vitamin C tablets, that is. So I drove by and picked up our unseemly quantity of ice cream just after lunch.
I'm a bit bummed about the epoxy, though. I'll have to try ordering it from somewhere else, I guess.
I have a couple of things that I was hoping to fix - a small kitchen appliance for one.
I was washing it some time back when I noticed that some crud had built up between two layers on its lid. I figured that there had to be a way to clean between the layers besides just trying to flow water through it.
I tugged at them a bit, and they had some give. On closer examination, it looked like they were just clipped together and were designed to be taken apart for cleaning.
I gave it a slightly firmer tug (not reefing on it, just a decisive tug). It came apart with an alarming snap, and a piece fell out.
Apparently, it was not meant to come apart for cleaning.
The device can still be used (safely) by holding the broken part in place to operate it, but I would like to reattach it properly.
With epoxy.
All we got was ice cream though. It won't let me fix the appliance, but it will help me to care less that it's broken.

I am still doing my A Picture A Day 2020 | Flickr project, and so far I've managed to not miss a day. If I can make it to the 31st of December, this will be a first for me on one of these projects. I came very close to blowing it early in the year. I took a picture but forgot to post it until after midnight.
atara convinced me that the fact that I took the picture on the right day should count as a success. I'm still a bit unhappy about it, but on the grand scheme of things, I'll accept her interpretation.
The big differences so far this year as opposed to earlier years is that I am have more free time this year, and I set myself a recurring reminder for 10:00 every day. I make a point of only snoozing the reminder so that it will hound me every two hours until I take and post a picture. At risk of jinxing myself, so far, so good.
