One of the staff approached me a few minutes ago for assistance.  One of his 3270 emulation sessions wasn't working, so he called the "help desk".  The person at the other end apparently had no idea what he was talking about, but didn't let that stop her from giving him instructions to reconfigure and move a couple of files.  Now none of his 3270 sessions work.

This is one of those cases when "close all windows and reboot" would have fixed the problem.

I suggested to him that he call them back and see if they could cripple a few more critical applications.  I hope he didn't take me seriously, but he was dialling as I walked away.

When I was a kid I used to dream about working for a railroad. Reading your LiveJournal is making me lose my childhood. :-)

When I hired on here, it was so that I could play with trains. I wanted to be a locomotive engineer but they convinced me that they needed people in the office.

I guess there are some benefits to working in the office. Hoggers don't have the intarweb... yet.

Hoggers may not, but a certain tailroading lion does when he's working at Canal.

Gotta check those weather forecasts you know. :=3

Of course if hoggers have a web capable cell phone who knows what they're doing while sitting at a red signal. ;=3

This is one of the best typos I've seen in awhile (though I'm not entirely ruling out a Freudian slip ;)

The "railroading lion" here. :=3

If you want to "lose" more of your childhood then you are more than welcome to read my LJ. ;=3

I also work for a railroad and do everything from trackwork, to run a movable bridge, to engineer, to being the assistany to the president of the road. I'm also the webmaster for the RR. :=3

Such is the life when you work for a short line. ;=3

Sure, what the heck.

Now if only we could see some more furry art with railroad themes...
