When I compare the comfortable basement of my parents in-law to the dank, smelly pit that sits under our own house, I admit to some jealousy. Pictured on the far wall is atara and her sisters. At the time when this was taken, I suspect she had no inkling of the turn her life would take a few years later.

I don't know the story of the fish. It's an antique. Or something.



I shot this one at 7/10 of a second, with an aperture of f/4.8. Normally I would use a tripod for a shutter this slow, but I forgot to bring my tripod on the trip, so I had to rely on a basement post.

Yeaaah. roho's aunt had this... amazingly wonderful basement/ livingroom / workspace at their old house in MA. I've always wanted to try to reproduce it, but we.. just haven't had the appropriate space.

Do you have drainage/runoff issues with your house? Are your gutters clogged, or not moving the water far enough away? Yay mystery-fish!
