I set out right from the start looking to do a high contrast B&W shot. I set the camera on the tripod and took this one at 3 seconds, with an f/8.0 aperture. I could have taken a much faster shot, but I wanted the finer detail that a small aperture would give me.
I actually shot this one with my camera set to its black & white mode, but even though it does a good job of conversion, it didn't have quite the properties that I wanted and I went back to the raw image. I used a multiplicative blue channel on red calculation to do the B&W conversion, cropped the image slightly, and gave it just a tiny nudge in sharpness.
