This clock is a souvenir from my first, last and only trip to Graceland. I didn't bother with the paid tour, I simply bought a clock.

A crazy Elvis fan assured me that this clock would break as soon as I got it home. "They always do." It wasn't meant as a jinx, more as a rueful observation. Even after all these years, his hips still swing and he keeps reasonably good time - or he would if head batteries.

I shot this one with a flash, brightened it up a bit, and cropped slightly. Nothing fancy. I didn't notice the tassle when I was taking the picture - not sure where that came from.

Not sure if it's the flash or what but it almost looks like you took a picture of your wall, then photoshopped in the clock. Probably just an optical illusion with a thin, flat surface directly in front of a non-flat wall.

I noticed that last night too. Between the diffuser, and the angle at which I shot this one, he doesn't show a visible shadow at this resolution.

He looks much less shopped if you view him at full size.

You're right. Looked at the full size and I can see the hint of a shadow!

I remember first meeting you the same trip when you bought that clock.

That was a great road trip. That was the most driving I have ever done in such a short period in my life. My brother and I logged about 8,700KM (5,400 miles) of driving over the course of two weeks. More, actually, as that just covers the distance between cities we hit and doesn't take into account any of the myriad of side-trips on the way.

Unfortunately I've since fallen out of touch with most of the people I went to visit on that trip.

Edit: My bad, I forgot that we hit Milwaukee and Chicago. We actually logged just over 5,500 miles on that trip (8,900KM).
