Mornings like this remind me of why people sometimes choose to snipe from rooftops.

I think that Alberta and Saskatchewan drivers exist only to remind the rest of us that there really are people who drive worse than Manitobans.

I ground enough fine-grind coffee this morning to make a full pot of Java goodness at work today, and then forgot it in the grinder when I left for work this morning. I can't use fine-grind at home, so I guess I'll have to bag it up and decent-but-not-quite-fresh coffee when I get in tomorrow.

While I was enjoying drinking a cup of office coffee this morning, I was frantically patching and re-running things that failed overnight because of another network outage that cause two of my Access databases to fail, and one of them to corrupt to the point where I had to restore from a recent backup. When I finally got everything updated, I noticed that one of the reports still had not published. On further investigation I discovered that some moron (possibly me, though I will neither confirm nor deny that) had saved over one of the critical spreadsheets with a different one. It was easy enough, if somewhat fiddly and time-consuming to fix.

On a less grumpy note, I heard a radio ad this morning that made me chuckle. There is a local furniture/bedding company that has these wonderfully low-budget ads (if I say the phrase You'll find us! then all of the locals on my list will probably know of whom I speak). In the ad this morning, the owner of the business was describing a new line of sofa-beds he was bringing in, but he spent more than half of the ad apologizing to his delivery guys because "these things are ridiculously heavy." He mentioned how much he hated moving them when he was a furniture delivery guy himself.

This ad struck a sympathetic chord with me because I vividly remember moving them when I delivered furniture for a living. The only things worse than the sofa-beds were the adjustable beds

We got some solid attempts in last night on 10-man Festergut. We had a few miscues, and some bad luck or I think we'd have downed him. Ultimately we'd have had him in a couple of the attempts if we had been 2-healing the fight rather than 3-healing it. Unfortunately healing is one of the areas where we are currently hurting in the guild; we are not hurting for lack of healers, rather for lack of quality, reliable healers.

That is not to say that we don't have some good healers, but the good ones are also the ones who aren't getting consistent play time lately, or aren't healing when they are on (damn shadow priests).

I so want to go into specifics, but I'll stay with generalizations. Here are some of our healing shortcomings:

- Poor spell selection. When your target is taking 3500dps, and you're only pushing 2400hps, maybe it's time to start using the big fucking spells. I know "it's too sloooow", but your raid healers are tired of losing the people they are supposed to be healing because they have to carry you.
- Stop standing in the fire. No, don't finish that spell before you move, fucking move! You're not doing us any good by being dead. Again.
- Heal yourself. You're a healer. You have heal buttons. You have a health bar. Why do you treat your own health bar different from everyone else's? You're not doing us any good by being dead. Again.
- Fix your fucking spec. Fix your fucking gems. Fix your fucking enchants. Don't just grab every piece of fucking gear that drops, make sure it's actually itemized with something useful for you. I know it's just a game and stuff, but would it kill you to even lightly peruse any of the hundreds of help pages out there devoted to your healing class?

*pantpant*

Anyway, we also had some dps issues in last night's attempt but for the most part our troubles could be traced back to the healing. If the Peter Principle could be applied to a guild, then I guess Festergut would be that point for us.

re: WoW - ouch. :/ I admit to being somewhat lazy with gems and enchants, but that's because I'm not a serious raider - I haven't been a regular raider since Naxx was hard. (the second time, not the first)

re: Mondays - I now have that song stuck in my head, thank you. Actually, I really like that song, so - thank you!

It wouldn't really be an issue if we weren't banging our heads on some of the new, harder content just now. The healers that we've been largely covering for and carrying through earlier content are starting to hold us back a bit.
