Father's Day
Jun. 21st, 2009 09:32 pmI seldom called dad on Father's Day, nor on his birthday. It wasn't that Dad and I weren't on speaking terms, in fact we were on very good terms. Dad just wasn't one for telephones.
He wasn't afraid of phones, nor did he dislike them, but he seemed to regard them as a tool rather than a social networking device. That's not to say that I never called him, but when I did, the call usually ended up being 5-6 minutes of awkward, forced chit-chat before he would finally say, "Did you want to speak to your mother?"
