For some reason this topic came up at work today.  Back when I was still living out in Vancouver a local performance artist announced his plans to publicly execute a rat in the name of art.  His plan was elegant in its simplicity: he would place the rat on a piece of canvas, affix another canvas to to bottom of a 25 kilogram concrete block and at the appointed time the canvases would meet.

It didn't quite go off as planned...
