I briefly chatted with Mom this afternoon, and it sounds like Dad's condition has deteriorated a fair bit since we saw him last month. They have moved him into palliative care, where he spends most of his time sleeping now. At least with all the morphine pumping through him he's not in any pain. When we were out there, Mom confided in me that she did not think that he would last much past the end of summer. Now she does not think that he will make it to the end of the month.

I lost my father to Alzheimer's back in May of 2007. It was a hard battle. :(

I feel for ya man. I'd tell work to shove it for a while and be there when the time comes. I'd hate myself forever if I hadn't done that for my dad.

If ever you need to rush off to BC in a moment's notice, just let me know and I'll take care of your house/cats.
I will be away Saturday August 30th to Wednesday September 3rd to go to Tom's cabin, but I can easily give all the instructions to someone else for those few days.
