Victoria is a delightful city in a beautiful setting. Every time I come back to visit, I ask myself again why I ever left.

Here is a shot looking across the harbour toward town. Most of the city centre is hidden from this angle.
Harbour

The B&B where we are staying is a very kitschy place that is run by a gay couple. Even if it wasn't patently obvious when you meet them, the décor gives it away. The vignette effect in the corners is exasperated by the filters that encroach on the frame a bit when the lens is zoomed right out. Not much I can do about it except to either avoid zooming right out, or cropping. I can compensate a bit in software, but any more than this would introduce other visual distortions.

In all of the years that I lived here, I managed to avoid going to the wax museum because I regarded it as an overpriced tourist trap. I still think it is a bit overpriced, but it's actually a decent museum. Not only do they not discourage photography, they openly encourage it. Want to use a flash? Go for it! I shot a surprising number of pictures in the museum, but I only resorted to a flash on one or two occasions because I didn't want to mess with the lighting in the scenes. Only a couple of the pictures were blurry, in spite of exposure times of a second and up. Who knew that I had such a steady hand?

The sign in the foreground describes the scene. I was too busy going "B3wbs! w00t!"

Nothing could have prepared me for the displays in the Hall of Horrors. Oh wait, this wasn't even in the hall yet. You mean it gets worse than this? Words escape me...
Horror Dwarf

I have another picture of this scene where the lighting is better, but I like the way this one turned out and I didn't make any effort to lighten it in software.

It's Alice in Creepy Land. You can almost hear the Cheshire Cat whispering to her, "I'll rip out the heart, you can have the soul."

Why Grandma, what big teeth you have! I know this is supposed to be a scary, fearsome wolf, but Grandma's not the least bit scary here - in fact she's kinda cute.

Oops, gotta run.

Even though the conditions were a little choppy, it didn't seem to discourage the boaters. There are none in this particular shot, but trust me, they are out there.
Victoria Lighthouse

The Oak Bay Marina (or the corner of it anyway) in the foreground while Mount Baker looms in the background.
Boats

I did not notice the sea bird in the background when I shot this one. I love the composition of this shot for some reason. Not bad for something shot from a moving bus.

I've only been to Victoria a couple of times. Both times with Scotty on our road trips, and both times only for a matter of hours.

We took a quick tour of their legislative building (I'm fairly sure it's directly behind you in the first picture) and we even lucked out because the museum had a fantastic exhibit on the Titanic.

Victoria's a place I could see myself moving to (if ever I made enough money).

Eli and I just came back from Victoria.

I highly recommend The Irish Times Pub, especially their Irish Stew and the house band.

Have fun!

Great place :) A little cramped, but has some awesome meals.

I also like Earl's, and Pescatore's

That's some kitchy kitch!
I keep meaning to visit Vancouver and Victoria sometime, but never seem to get around to it...

Do the filters do anything that compensates for their negatives?
