A jury awarded $10.9 million in damages against the Westboro Baptist Church.

U.S. District Judge Richard Bennett noted the size of the award for compensating damages "far exceeds the net worth of the defendants," according to financial statements filed with the court.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some, or all of this reduced in an appeal, but one can always hope. It would not distress me to see these folks end up homeless and broke.

I hope this stops those idiots from demonstrating at funerals. I'm sure they will try to plead it down, but I hope they can't. And if they end up homeless and broke, it's probably "God's will" ;)
