Default Loot Boy
Jul. 20th, 2007 11:01 amI am a shameless scavenger. When I am playing on my rogue, I have no qualms about following somebody around with my skinning knife, waiting for them to kill clefthoofs (clefthooves?) so that I can take the hides. When the heavy skins sell for 60g per stack, shame takes a back to prudence.
Lately I have been getting a good deal of deal of mileage out of the line, "I'll take that if nobody else wants it."
[By the way, the Boots of Elusion dropped three times for us last night. They will typically drop at least once every time we clear the instance. Fix the damn loot table already!]
Last night the raiding party dubbed me Default Loot Boy because so much loot has fallen to me in the last couple of runs. I acquired this moniker after Netherspite dropped the Pantaloons of Repentence (sic). They offered them to our healing priest on the run, but she already had a better crafted set. Since I was the only other priest along on the run...
In our last two sorties into Kara, I've had 4-5 epic pieces dropped in my lap because either I was the only priest along, or the other priest on the run didn't need the gear. I could use a better +healing weapon, and I am in dire need of healing enchants, but I have managed to assemble a pretty solid healing set for somebody who as been running as DPS for the past few months.
I think that I have reached the point of diminishing returns on my damage set. It's not that I don't want to crank up my output any more, but I am starting to have trouble keeping my threat level below our main tanks if I don't have the Blessing of Salvation. I spend almost as much time buffing my nails as I do applying damage to some of the trash mobs now.
On the other hand, solo grinding is a breeze these days.

Date: 2007-07-20 04:37 pm (UTC)There have been a few times when I've stepped back and started wanding to conserve mana, or to bide time while my threat drops a bit on the meters. There have been times when I've even had to put away the wand, though, because it was generating too much threat (when it's getting routine crits over 700 points, the damage starts adding up quick).
I think that what I am going to have to do is stop casting VE in every fight. I like to use it because it is a cheap cast, and it tops me back up again after an SW:D, but I'm getting double-aggro from all of the heals it dishes out.

Date: 2007-07-20 05:21 pm (UTC)I totally took this to mean something else on first reading. I thought, "I could try, but I've never been very good at trolling forums. People tend to just ignore me rather than getting mad."
I imagine now that the enchant is easier to get, the mats will be tougher. I've got a fair bit of stuff stored away on my bank alt, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if I had most of what I need.
