Foster update

Guess who finally got adopted? Six months is a long time to act as a foster home for a wayward cat - one might get attached to a cat in that time. Before we took her to the shelter I spent about half an hour with her so that I could say a proper goodbye. Leia did her usual routine of purring and nuzzling and burying her face in my beard. All in all she is a very personable cat, and I think her adopter is going to be pleased with her new pet.

She's a very pretty cat (and IMO the bobbed ears add to the cuteness). She's not quite this colourful in person -- I boosted the saturation a bit in this shot to bring out her colours a bit more.

Awww, bye bye Leia. The round ears look so cute on her... I hope she has many happy years in her new home. :)

I got reasonably positive vibes from the new owner - I took it as a good sign that she adopted the Leia in spite of the fact that she was stomping around the room hissing at everything that moved (and even some that didn't).

Fortunately, aside from the steady stream of hissing, she was otherwise acting very friendly and inquisitive (talk about sending out mixed messages).

I think that I can now better understand what the folks at the shelter must have felt when we adopted Belladonna. She had been stuck there for months, and when we asked for a closer look, she hissed and growled and bit both of us. They were openly surprised when, in spite of that, we said we'd take her.
