Friday morning musings
Jun. 15th, 2007 01:51 pmThis guy was a poster boy for MADD. They loved him because he was arresting bucket loads of people on DUI charges. He was a hero because if he was arresting that many people, the roads were obviously safer.
While this guy is inarguably the exception, I think that this may only be because he had the audacity to arrest virtually everyone he pulled over. I remember a time when DUI laws were ostensibly about making the roads safer, and not just about boosting numbers for self-glorification. No word in the article on if any of his victims will be compensated.
A couple of my co-workers have started producing pictures from the parts of the country where they were doing track work. These lucky bastards got to play with fire. We didn't get to play with fire. Well, not intentionally... but that's a story for another day.

[Edit: Apparently the lame site that hosts this picture blocks hot-linking. Ah well, I'll download the picture and post it in a separate entry later. It's a very cool picture.]
"Repeatedly, investigators found Brock reported failures in field sobriety tests when his patrol car video camera documented the opposite. He wrote, for instance, that a driver on Oct. 25, 2005, lost balance while turning. The video of the encounter showed that wasn't the case. The driver blew a 0.01 in the breath test but was arrested anyway."
