Math is hard! -- Barbie
Feb. 26th, 2007 08:10 amWhen you know beyond all doubt that six times seven equals forty-three, and you can't figure out why the rest of the equation doesn't want to resolve around this truth, then you know your week is off to a bad start.

Date: 2007-02-26 11:07 pm (UTC)1) sometimes the answer is close enough
2) sometimes the wrong answer is the right answer
3) worrying over math is often a huge waste of time
If I am counting M&Ms among seven kindergarten students and one gets an extra M&M, thye really really won't care. For example.
If I am adding drops of water to a solution, very often the difference between 42 and 43, chemically, will be immaterial to a real world result.
Even thinking about math, when you could be eating M&Ms, seems like a waste of time for most people.
I am not anti-math, though - thank god that SOMEONE has answers that are usually concrete in real numbers. Math is a good thing, but like color television, I worry not overmuch about the how or why.
