After a lot of obsessing consideration, I decided to go with a Nikon SLR. I got an 18-200 zoom with it -- which obviates the need for my old Canon lenses. The picture is nothing speciall - just a shot of the gargoyle in the corner of our living room.

Gargoyle

Nothing like flash photography to highlight the fact that you really need to dust. Don't mind the cobwebs.

Yay for new camera purchases!

How're your initial impressions so far?

Initial impressions? This camera has a really nice feel to it; solid and ergonomic. As much as I love our Olympus, I have to admit that this one focuses and shoots in a fraction of the time. Almost instant in comparison.

I haven't really taken enough pictures to get a feel for the quality -- mostly test shots where I've been playing with white balance and other settings. Tomorrow I'm going to wander out in daylight and put it through some paces.
