I saw this demonstrated on Youtube recently (is there anything you can't find on Youtube?). It is a simple principle, but I thought that it was pretty cool because it's the first time I've ever seen it done. I'm not saying that it's anything new, only that this is the first time I'd ever seen it.

Here is how to graphically multiply numbers without knowing how to multiply. I pulled a couple of numbers out of my ass thin air and gave it a try. It works!



It is much faster, of course, to just learn the multiplication tables.

I came across that video too. It's much easier to do it the "normal" way, but still very cool to see.
