Vacation implies getting away from something.

The down side to being the only one who knows how to do something critical is being the only one who knows how to do something critical. Now that my plans for the day are effectively shot, I am going to punch a wall and head home.

Perhaps you should leave the city/province when you're on vacation. That way they can't call you in :)

Next time tell them you're on vacation, tell them you're leaving town even if you're not, and aren't accessible by phone or e-mail
