I'm just taking a break from cleaning to enjoy the rest of my coffee and post a brief update here.
We dragged
dronon out to a new restaurant for dinner on Saturday night.
atara and I have a couple of favourite sushi restaurants, and a couple of regular sushi restaurants (not the same). Originally we were going to go to one of our regular ones down at The Forks, but it was insanely busy down there - bad enough that we didn't feel like spending 30 minutes fighting for parking. Fortunately
atara snatched opportunity from the jaws of failure, and suggested that we should try the new place we'd talked about before. It had been on our "let's try this place sometime" list for quite awhile.
This new restaurant (named Miso) is different from the other sushi restaurants in town in two respects. Firstly, it is located in a basement. Secondly, it is all-you-can-eat. I've had mixed luck with bottomless sushi restaurants, but I'm all about all-you-can-eat, so I was willing to keep an open mind. The price was about on par with what you would expect from one of these places ($22.95 per person). We were pleased to find out that it's not just endless sushi, but everything on the menu. We ran the full gamut including miso soup, edamame, yakitori, seared beef, tempura and (of course) sushi.
Almost as an added bonus, it was all good. The bill for two of us was pretty close to what we'd spend in one of our "regular" places, but the quality of the food was a full step up. It wasn't quite up there with Edohei or Asahi, but we certainly had no complaints. This place is a little out of the way for us, but I think it may have shoehorned itself into our rotation for dining out.
