Fire & Brimstone?

I haven't been outside since I got here this morning, but I'll be curious to see the conditions when I pop my head out there for lunch in a few minutes.  The Environment Canada page says:



The text further down on the page says, "local smoke".  I haven't heard anything in the news.  I wonder what's burning?

There's smoke here right now. It is sunny but the sky is very white.
And the air was so clear yesterday. Hmm... given the direction of the wind (NNW), it could be this:

Yup, turns out that the smoke here was from the same fires. They were calling for smoky conditions again today, but the wind shifted overnight and it's beautiful and clear this morning.
