Cup Analysis

plonqI did some post-playoff number crunching and, conspiracy theorists and whining aside, the better team won.
If you look at the two teams' overall records, it was the 4th place team beating the 14th place team to take the cup. On the other hand if you look at their inter-divisional records (which helps weed out teams who have good records from beating up on teams in a very weak division *coughCentralcough*), then you actually have the 2nd overall going against 15th overall. To be fair, Edmonton came into the playoffs on a role, and they played with a lot of heart. At the end of the day, though, the team with the better record won.
Kudos to Edmonton on a good run; they were undoubtedly the Cinderella team this year.

But it was a good game, and they did make it all the way to last.
