Mar. 6th, 2006 10:19 pm"Please don't tell me you fell for the marketing crap and that you're using a iPaq or something?"
Yes, I understand that I'm apparently a moron for using Windows, but if you are going to come into my journal, call down my hardware and OS, then have a circle-jerk about how much you love your Macs, please restrict it to comments in this entry, m'kay? I promise in return that I won't mention Windows, or any variant thereof in your own journals.
Frankly I find all this OS snobbery tiresome and childish.

Date: 2006-03-07 08:18 am (UTC)My job entails supporting WinXP and W2k Server(and DOS/Win31, OS/2-LanMan2.2, NT3.51 and NT4.0 before that), so I have had a 'bit of experience' with those systems.
I ran into ActiveSynch back when it was in V3.1, when I learned that it by default locked ALL the serial ports on a user's PC(he wasn't happy since he need to use a modem to dial up checkpoints on the road).
My boss got a iPaq a year or two ago, and never could make it dial in to our remote-access modem-pool as it always insisted on adding +33 to the number...
(I could add half a dozen similar stories, but I don't want to bore you)
Yes, I mentioned Macs, but only as a comment to another LJ-user who I noticed had a .mac site.
Anyway, as I screwed up, I'll now slink off(remove you from my friends list) and not bother you again.

Date: 2006-03-07 09:57 am (UTC)As I'm not plonq (and I'm sure he is glad of that :=3 ), I cannot really speak for him.
However, I do not believe that he meant for you to take that he wanted you to remove him from your Friends list.
You apologized and, I'm sure, that is all that was required, if even that was required.
I don't know if you ever met Plonq in real life. I have and I can tell you that he is very friendly and would not want you to do this.
And, finally, only I'm allowed to defriend someone when I screwed up. :=3 You're satealing my sthick. :=3
Plonq, am I correct on this?

Date: 2006-03-07 10:27 am (UTC)But you see, I dissed something that was a gift from Atara to Plonq, and by doing so, insulted her. And THAT is the reason I've decided to disappear.

Date: 2006-03-07 01:56 pm (UTC)I wasn't actually trying to call down anything you use, just to say (to Anthony!) that I used to be a Psion user and that I prefer PalmOS over PocketPC.
I didn't bring up Macs at all, that was Anthony, and I wouldn't dream of attempting to tell you what you "should" be using.
But if I expressed myself badly, then I apologise.

Date: 2006-03-07 02:16 pm (UTC)I was also somewhat pre-miffed coming in here from what had been happening in some of the forums that I follow - but I'm probably going to post a pissy rant about that another time. =)

Explorer does offend me, since it tempts me to go to the GetFirefox website and download that 4/5 MB thing for them.. That is really all, alas I hope I never become as snobbish as all those rich pricks who use T4 as their personal modems.
