The 350W power supply seems to be doing the job, in spite of being 4 pins short for this motherboard. I got a bit of a scare when the CPU fan didn't spin up, but I disabled that warning in the BIOS and it seems to be working fine now.

(The fan spun up shortly after boot-up, and I have a software monitor for the fan speed and core temperature, so I should have plenty of warning if it decides that it wants to cook itself.)

If you've got a motherboard with an intel chipset, even if the fan stopped working your computer wouldn't fry because the chipset slows the CPU down as much as necesary for it not to burn from overheating
... usually crashing your computer, but saving it =P

While I was in the US I bought a pair of Antec 400W power suupplies. OMG, are those nice...

nVidia chipset, AMD processor.

chipset slows the CPU

I thought that was just an inherent property of Intel.

Antec power supplies are very nice - when they work. I dropped off my 480W at the shop where I bought it so that they can start the RMA process. I could have sent it back myself, but it would have cost me close to $20 in shipping (with the dubious advantage of getting it back sooner - which is not an issue since the FSP seems to be filling in nicely in its absence).

It is a property of intel, but not of the processor but of the chipset in the motherboard.
So an Intel CPU with a VIA chipset will still fry and... well, Intel doesn't make chipsets for AMD processors so no example there =P
