Feb. 5th, 2006 12:33 pmLuca (our latest foster cat) is sick. We knew that he was sick when we brought him home - he came with his own personal regimen of medications. This is different. Since we brought him home on Thursday he has developed a problem in his urinary tract. I had enough problems with Pixil when he was alive to recognize the symptoms of a blockage. Fortunately it's not totally blocked, so we should be able to bring him around by putting him on a prescription diet for awhile.
The only fly in the ointment is that the HS is really strapped for space and cash. If they see him as a problematic cat, they may just opt to euthanise him rather than spending the time and money to fix him up. That would be a serious shame. He's a very nice and personable cat. He loves people and gets along really well with other cats. He loves other cats.
atara will be taking him in today for a prognosis. If it comes down to cost, I'm willing to foot the bill for the prescription food until he's better. I don't know if that is an option or not, though. They're pretty funny with some of their regulations.
