Jan. 16th, 2006 07:51 amAt risk of lumping myself in with 90% of the population, I admit that Mondays are not "my thing". My higher functions are slow to start on most mornings anyway, but the post-weekend trauma of Monday morning seems to compound or divide the matter (depending on whether I'm talking about negative functionality, or just a low positive of the same).
If I am going to forget my glasses at home, it will usually happen on a Monday.
If I am going to forget my lunch at home, it will usually happen on a Monday.
If I am going to forget to put on a belt in the morning... damn! No wonder my pants felt so loose on the walk in to work.
I can pinpoint the precise moment when I forgot to grab my belt. I made a trip to the bedroom specifically to fetch, and don the belt. The kitten accompanied me, and when I got in there she started acting cute and kitten-like. When your brain is deprived of coffee, and still trying to claw its way through the cocoon curtains of sleep, kitten trumps belt every time. I stopped to play with the kitten, then walked out of the bedroom again, blithely unaware of the fact that my loose, baggy pants were threatening to part company with me at any moment.
So here I am at work; beltless. I just need to stay on my guard today to ensure that I don't also end up pantless before the day is done. I typically save that for casual Friday.
