plonq: (Usual Silly Mood2)
[personal profile] plonq
I stole this one from [livejournal.com profile] funos

  1. My username is ____ because ____.

My username is [livejournal.com profile] plonq because [...]

... because my old moniker (Snowcat) was already claimed by somebody else when I signed up for an account on FurryMuck, and I had to come up with a new name on short notice.  I decided to go with a really stupid name that wasn't likely to be taken, and [livejournal.com profile] plonq was the first thing that popped into my head.

  2. My journal is titled _______ because ____.

My journal is titled "and things went downhill from there" because I am a twisted, cynical individual.  The name is actually a little poke at LJ, and at the LJ Community as a whole.  My impression of the community is that the average contributer is an angst-ridden 14-year-old whose average journal entry starts with the sentence, "Today started out awful, and things went downhill from there."

  3. My subtitle is ____ because ____.

My subtitle is "(a desperate plea for fish)" because I felt like adding that as a subtitle.  It is a good subtitle.  I like fish.

  4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.

My friends page is called "My favourite stalkers." for the same reasons as outlined above; I like fish.

  5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

My default userpic is from a con badge that I commissioned at CACE a couple of years back because I think it embraces my inner [livejournal.com profile] plonq.  He's just a harmless, goofy little snow leopard who doesn't let a lack of talent or coherence stand in the way of his enthusiasm for writing.

"Here you are.  It's my magnum opus."
"Plonq, this is just a badly-drawn picture of that penguin from Bloom County holding a big bottle of wine."
"A magnum, actually."

I've always wanted to know why your web site www.plonq.com is entitled "Nuke The Gay Whales For Jesus". :-)

I guess I forgot to phrase my question in the form of a question..
Why is your web site entitled "Nuke The Gay Whales For Jesus"?

I don't know the origin of the phrase (I think it originally showed up in one of those counter-culture comics in the 70s - Freak Brothers perhaps), but ultimately it's a phrase that is designed to offend everybody.

I don't know why I chose to use it as the title of my web page - I suppose I just wanted to see if people actually pay attention to the names of web pages. I've always liked the phrase for its sheer audacity, though it doesn't necessarily reflect my personal beliefs.
