Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
smelled like a distillery
and if you were to test him
he would blow a 1.3.

All of the other reindeer
mocked him in his drunken state
they didn't know that Rudolph
drank to numb their constant hate.

Then one sodden Christmas Eve
Santa came and said,
"COVID took out half my herd.
Lead my sleigh you drunken turd."

Then how the reindeer feared him,
bleating out a frantic call,
"Rudolph's too soused to steer us;
he is going to kill us all!"

Religion and Politics - I have opinions

For the past few days I've been fighting an urge to post my thoughts on the political situations south of the border. I certainly have opinions about it, but as events have dragged on, I've found that I just don't have the will to bother putting my thoughts into words. There's no benefit to me or anybody else in the voicing of my opinions, since people are either going to agree, or disagree with me and nobody else's opinion will be swayed by mine.

One might rightly ask why I - a foreigner living in a different country - would have opinions on the political situation in another country. That's a valid point on its surface, but only barely. I know that isolationism is in vogue these days, but we can be affected by decisions made by our neighbours. If the folks next door decide to set fire to the tires in their back lot, there's as good a chance as not that I'll get choked just as badly by the acrid smoke.

Also, my spouse is a US citizen who voted, so our household had a vested interest in the outcome. My extended family on that side are all living in the US. My mother was born in the US and my entire extended family on that side are also living in the US. It might not have been my election, but I have a considered interest in the outcome.

So yes, I do have a valid interested. It is my business.

But I'm not going to bore you with my stance.

So ... technically I am voicing my opinion, but only on my right to voice my opinion.

I have the right to speak my mind about nothing, and I shall use that right.
