plonq: (Plonq @ Work)
And in other news...

I got a call from the head office a few minutes ago.

Caller: Hi.  I'm calling on behalf of [name1] and [name2] who are looking for a report on [something complicated, fiddly and time-consuming]
Me: <suppressing a groan because he recognizes the names as being trouble> Can you please be more specific?
Caller: What do you mean?
Me: Are you looking for [all events ever] for [all units ever] at [some vaguely referenced locale]?
Caller: You mean like historical data?
Me: <inwardly> Ack!  Moron!  What do you think I mean?
Me: <cringing> I hope that I didn't say that out loud.
Caller: Actually they want it on a daily, going-forward basis.
Me: <blink>
Me: <blink>
Me: <purr> Wait a minute... I scheduled a report to do just that a couple of years ago.  Shall I add them to the distro list?

I love it when a plan comes together in advance.
plonq: (Fark Off)
Well, it's been 6 weeks to the day since I posted this:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/plonq/168420.html

and I just got another email from Amazon saying, "Item delayed 4-6 weeks."

Farking losers. If you don't have it in stock then just say so - don't list it as being "in stock" and "available" and then string me along while you see if you can find a copy of it on eBay. Let's follow back the link in that email... update order status... cancel... done!

I'm bitching about amazon.ca, mind you. We've had decent luck with anything we've ever ordered through amazon.com. I used .ca this time around because the shipping was quite a bit cheaper. Meh. They're off my Christmas list.
