plonq: (Pensive mood)
I don't think I've ever mentioned any of my dreams in here yet, but for the second time in three nights, painting has played a key role in my dreams.

Last night I dreamt that I took [livejournal.com profile] atara to visit the church where I grew up.  The place looked pretty good considering that now there's a traffic cloverleaf where it used to sit.

Anyway, in the dream, the minister was at the front delivering one of the typical pentecostal blanket-condemnations that I remember so fondly.  Meanwhile we were sitting back in the pews, working on various projects.  Apparently one had to complete a creative work of some kind before they would let you leave the sermon.  [livejournal.com profile] atara managed to finish hers, but I was having some trouble mixing the right shades of grey for the horse that I was painting.  I just got the paint blended right when my alarm went off.  Ack!  I hit the snooze button and fell right back asleep because I was determined to finish painting that blasted horse.  I didn't want to wake up and leaving my dream self stuck in a boring fire&brimstone sermon.  Fortunately the dream took up where it left off, and I manged to finish the painting.  We just walked out of the church when the snooze timer ran down and the alarm rang again.  Phew.

The dream a couple of nights back was actually a bit stranger.

[livejournal.com profile] atara and I were helping an elderly lady to decorate her garden.  She had it all prepared with wood trim around the edges, and a bed of gravel.  All we had to do was paint the livers.  She had a huge crate of partly-dried livers that she planned to spread around her garden in an attractive collage, but first they had to be painted.  We had an assortment of various chalky, pastel colours to choose from.  I don't know what kind of paint we were using, but it coated the livers very effectively, and dried very fast (which is good, because livers aren't the easiest things to paint).

I don't know if they were pig, cow or human  livers - the subject never actually came up.

We also took some time out to paint somebody's BMW because he was parked in front of where a fire hydrant was going to be.  To be fair, there was a plug in the ground where the fire department could plug in one of their new modular fire hydrants, and this guy probably didn't know that he was not allowed to park there, but we were painting his car in chalky rainbow colours anyway.  We took great care not to get any paint on the windows or trim, and once you got past the fact that we were using chalky, pastel colours, it didn't really look that bad.  Most of our attention was on painting the livers, though.

Ayup.  A dream analyst could make a killing on me.
