Isn't it nice when things just work?
Aug. 26th, 2004 03:04 pmSomebody blew up my LJ friends page. Ah well, the offending post will roll off the bottom in a day or so and the problem will solve itself.
Our weather is broken. Yesterday the local CBC station had people calling in to complete the phrase, "This summer has been so cold that..."
My two favourites:
"This summer was so cold that even the mosquitoes flew south."
"This summer was so cold that I'm actually looking forward to winter."
Speaking of things that don't work... I discovered that in the world of Business Objects, 1 + 1 = 1 because it tends to aggregate the data and treat the two records as if they were one, even if you assign each of the records a unique serial number. It only does this when you try to summarize the data, though. I spent most of the morning fighting with this fun little feature until I finally a work-around for it: Excel.
I'd used BO instead of Excel because it's a much faster environment for creating this kind of report, but in the end more was less, and less was more.
A whole morning fighting with Business Objects = Bugger All
45 minutes of playing with Excel/VBA = Usable report
