Welcome to Monday.
Jul. 19th, 2004 07:59 amProtesters manage to stop the mosquito spraying this weekend. Fortunately the city had already sprayed our neighbourhood before the "environmentalists" pulled this stunt, but that doesn't stop me from wishing a serious case of West Nile Virus on every one of these twits. I rate these losers right down there with the ones who used to form human chains to try and protect gypsy moths from being sprayed out on the coast. It's people like this who give the serious environmentalists a bad name.
They recently gutted a building around the corner from my office. When I first moved here there was a CIBC bank in that building, but it closed shortly after I hit the scene. The building was empty for a few years before some developers ripped out all of the internal walls and turned it into a night club. The dance club lasted for about a year before it shut down and reopened under a different name. That one lasted a few months before it also shut down. A couple of weeks ago there was some more activity in the building; developers descended on the place and began removing all the trappings of the last nightclub that was there.
Their next move was to start erecting new office walls inside the building again. This morning they had put up banners in the window to say who's moving in; RBC Financial. Huzzah! Apparently this will be replacing their bank that is currently located across the street, and down the block from here. I was a little miffed about losing the branch across the street, but now I am suitably mollified because this branch is in a more convenient location for me. I think this is the first time ever that my bank will be opening a branch that is more convenient for me.
