They pushed down an update to my computer today.  The most significant element of the update was the "upgrade" from Office 2000 to Office 2003.

So far it looks like the same thing, only more bloated, and with a slightly bulbous look.  I assume that it will also break all of my VBA scripts.

In the hour since the update I've been working to undo some of the damage (such as having all of my personal settings reset).

The most notable change is that my calendar is missing.  Gone.  Presumably it has taken all of my meeting appointments with it.

I prefer to interpret this to mean that I am now absolved from all current and future meetings <purr>.  I guess some good came out of this upgrade!

[Edit: My calender just reappeared. My sense of relief is soured only by equally-palpable disappointment and annoyance.]

I was going to make fun of MS products, but then I ran Deer park alpha 2, then Firefox (1.0.6) and poof! most of the GUI had gone bad =P

Personally I liked a lot of the new features and designs of Outlook 2003. I use all of its corporate features quite heavily so it didn't seem like just usual bloat.. As for the rest the apps, Word, Excel, etc, not so convinced the upgrade was worth it, but then I don't use most of the features of those apps as it is :)

They made some, er, interesting decisions on the configuration in the initial roll-out, but now that I've had time to configure things to work close to the way I like, I tend to agree. I like some of the new features they've added to this version of Outlook.

I haven't noticed anything breathtakingly different about the other apps, though they seem to load a bit faster than their counterparts in Office2000.
