This one landed in my in-box this morning, apparently snapped back on the 26th.

He just wanted a ride, but we don't take passengers and we deemed him unbearable.

Uninvited ursine.

Word has it that it took four hours and a tranquilizer gun to deter our ursine would-be-commuter.

I don't know exactly how you'd write this one up in a train delay report...

I wonder if he was attracted by the smell of whatever was inside the hopper. Or if some hobos wanted him to break into an autorack but he got on the wrong car. Or maybe he was just trying to show off in front of his bear buddies.

Four hours and a tranquilizer gun... wouldn't it have been faster to paint "Exceeds Plate G Clearance" on the car?

At least some of that time was spent waiting for conservation officers to show up, and even after they got there they apparently had to chase the bear the full length of the train a few times before the got him.

...but the third rail-car was just right

Are you sure that's a wild bear? He looks trained to me. ;-)

There's something about a bear on a train that really tickles me. I don't know what. Amazing this didn't make the news in one of those "fluff" stories. Are there more pictures?

There are probably more pictures, but this was the only one that was forwarded to me. I'd like to see video footage of them chasing him along the length of the train.

Considering all the hot weather lately, I'm surprised the hot box detector didn't pick up on the overtemperature bear...ING!

You're both going to die horrible horrible deaths. The pain will be bearly as much as you've put me through.
