The spring-like weather this morning brought a silly poem to mind.  I did some Googling on it to see if I could find the original, but every page out there seems to have a different variation on the poem.  I'm going to go with the version that I first learned.

Spring is sprung,
the grass is riz.
I wonder where the birdies is?
The bird is on the wing they say
but that's absurd!
I know the wing is on the bird.

Not only does there not seem to be a definitive version of this poem out there, but nobody can agree on who wrote it.  Various nameless authors claim to have made it up on the spot in their blogs and chat boards, while others attribute it to Ogden Nash (seems like his style), Spike Milligan (possible) and even Shel Silverstein (... not likely).

Does anyone out there know the original author/version of this little ditty?
