Geeky musings about an obscure game

Every time I turn my back, the Pkunk embark on another suicidal migration to reunite with their xenophobic, homicidal Yehat brethren.  I've managed to delay them twice, but this time it looks like there is no talking them out of it.  I guess there's nothing for it but to go see if I can wheedle a few more Fury-class ships out of them before the feathers begin to fly.

<sigh>

Sometimes it's hard to find good allies in a hostile galaxy.

Ack. Sadly, not much you can do about the Pkunk situation, they do that automatically after a while. :(

I've made a fair bit of progress in the game, but it's frustrating because it's a bit unstable. The problem is that it's not just the game that crashes - it brings down the whole system. Sometimes the computer simply does a spontaneous reboot in the middle of the game, other times it simply locks things up so badly that I have to do a cold reboot to recover.

I am guessing that it is an incompatibility with the video or audio (or a combination thereof).

Hard to say, but I agree it's probably machine/OS driver related. I have the same beta release and it doesn't crash too often on my computer. On the other hand, I play for shorter periods because I know the game already, and you're exploring a lot, so maybe I'm not using it for long enough before the problems crop up.
