Yeah, but that 10% story kicks 120% of the proverbial ass. And the 90% pr0n-factor ain't that badly done either. ;)
Frankly, they kind of had to do it that way in order to do any real business among furs. You try putting out a serious, drama-comic and see how fast it flies off the shelves. It sucks, but that's the reality of supply and demand.

To be fair, though, I'll admit that Circles isn't seeing the rampant popularity that ASB did in its heyday, though it does have quite a following. And while I did enjoy the pr0n in ASB, I was also left with the feeling that it could have been more than it was, and that was something of a shame.
See, that's the thing. Circles is moderately popular, but ASB couldn't be printed fast enough when it debuted. The only reason the series wasn't continued (according to Lance and Chris) was lack of adequate capital to publish more. I think they pretty much funded their own project and relied on their publisher for distribution alone.
I have yet to read Circles (as I'm not really a fan of any comic, just not my thing), but I've heard good things about it. I've also heard that a lot of ASB fans are regular Circles readers since no more ASB issues will be produced.

In a lot of ways, Circles is the mirror-image of ASB: Circles is G/PG, where ASB was R/X; Circles is sometimes better written than it is drawn (particulalry in the early issues), ASB was the opposite (usually). Occasionally, Circles can get very wordy, but I don't think that's a bad thing in the visual-dominated furry genre. It's worth checking out an issue, if you get the chance.
I suppose I can't fault them for pandering to their audience. It's not their fault that I happen to fall outside of the target demographic.

Still, it's a bit depressing when you could replace all of the dialogue in the word balloons with "..." and the story wouldn't suffer for it.
On another note, is there any chance that you'll be adding to The Colony at St. Marie? I read the three parts you had posted on your site and I'm hooked.
Heh. Thanks so much for reading through my stuff! Well, I hadn't planned on any follow-up to St. Marie. It was literally a transcript of a dream that ended right where the story does. I've been tempted, however, to make this little scene the opener for my third book in the "Birds of Kalacria" series.
Before I can do that, though, I have to actually finish and publish the first one. And the second one. ;)
