(no subject)

We had about 30 kids come by yesterday for handouts.  We had planned for more, so toward the end were giving out large hands full of candy to each one.

We had a few that were smart enough to be afraid to come into our yard, and a few more who burst into tears once they did.  Heh.  What's the point of Halloween if you can't frighten a few kids into incontinence, though?  I don't know if we traumatized them for life, but I have a hunch that a future therapist will be thanking us for his new Lexus.

The sad part is that we weren't really trying to scare them, but kids today are so sheltered that they have become wimps.

What was scary about your yard? (other than you standing there)

I think it was a combination of things: our yard was lit only by a sinlge amber bulb, we had unusual pumpkins (one of them glowing green), there were a couple of people in scary costumes standing silently out in the yard and there were scary sounds coming from the inside the house (thanks to our new portable stereo). Even some of the teens who came to the house were slightly creeped out.

Hey, you guys looked mighty fearsome to me! The way you were just standing motionless by the fence, and the wind fluttering both of you and Atara's robes...It was like scary statues. Till Atara opens her wings and the laughing starts from in the house. Woot, too cool! :)
