Although they can be embarrassing when we let them loose in front of the rest of the world sometimes, I've lately come to appreciate the (mostly) harmless, crooked kooks that run the government up here.
Edit:
Bearing in mind that this person is playing the alarmist card, and listing off all the "worst case" scenarios - though, given the current climate, the no fly concern has some basis.

Date: 2004-10-27 01:57 pm (UTC)It is, and has been for a very long time, to make threats, verbal or otherwise, against the President. I believe it was made a "crime" during the Reagan years after the attempted assassination on him.
What defines a "threat" is left up to individual interpretation. Obviously, whatever this person said was construed as threatening to an outside observer, irregardless of the person's harmless intent. Enough so to send the Secret Service in to investigate. Honestly, they have better things to do with their time to than to personally investigate every hostile word blogged about..and there's *alot* of that right now. This makes me think, assuming this really happened as we're being lead to believe, that there was something more there worth the time of two Agents to make a housecall.
The "No fly" is of concern because that list has already proven to have many inaccuracies on it. They wouldn't be put on there "on purpose". Frankly, I don't see it a problem getting that mistake corrected if it happens, given said people now have the business cards of two Agents that have cleared their name...

He should probably thank his lucky stars that he had some decent SS agents assigned to his case. If he'd had some of the cowboys he could've been 'disappeared'.
