I admit to being a bit disappointed.

When I saw a flurry of activity from people who had been silent here for months, and even years, I had hoped that maybe the pandemic was nudging some people back to dust off their old accounts on Livejournal and/or Dreamwidth.

It's starting to look like it was more of a hiccough than a general movement, though. There are 2-3 of you who continue to make this a moderately interactive, social experience, and I know of a few who read this journal even if they don't respond. It's enough to keep me posting here.

But I miss the larger community that used to hang out here.

Yup. Especially the artists. The artist chatter on old LJ was nice. Never did manage to scare up enough zookeepers to rub them together. Salaries are so low they tend to move on after a decade anyway.

There was actually a fairly active writer's community on here too back in the day.

While much of that is covered fairly well in r/fanfic on Reddit, I always found this place to be a bit smaller and friendlier.

There a bunch of writers on Dreamwidth. Unfortunately I read them for their blogs (especially if they keep horses), not for their writing (shhh! Don't tell them!).
I think there were still more writers on LiveJournal.
