I enjoy reading some of the LJ communities, but sometimes I want to claw my eyes out in despair. There are days when the grammar nazi in me wants to strap on a couple of 25-litre cannisters of kerosene so that I can spray down the whole grammar and spelling wasteland with flaming goodness.

Of the groups that I follow, the most egregious offenders are in the

customers_suck community. This morning I read a rant from a girl who had to deal with a customer who was incapable of performing grade 2 math. This was from a girl who, judging by the nigh-unreadable word salad she'd posted, had not managed to master grade 2 grammar or spelling.

There are times when I want to reach through the monitor, grab these posters by their virtual lapels and shout in their face (complete with saliva droplets), "There is a reason why you are, and probably always will be working in a dead-end, minimum-wage job!"

The rules of English are not that hard!
